BASKETBALL ON WHEELCHAIR – Cimberio handicap sport Varese won Europe!

Cimberio won Europe or better at its first attempt in a continental competition it won a place in Europe, i.e. the qualification to the final eight generally named Eurolega 3, which will take place on 25th and 26th April next in Holland.
The two days of Malnate gave an unexpected result, for Cimberio passed against the other four teams.  On the eve of this event, the level of the other four teams (coming from Belgium, Greece, Russia and Poland) was unknown and at the end the technical level of the opponents was quite low, with the exception of Belgium team that actually competed with Varese for the final success.  Anyway, this did not reduce the credits of Cimberio which was surely better than the other teams.
The first match of the day against the Russian of Barsa was just a coaching for Geninazzi & Co, always attentive of not wasting too much strength for facing in the best shape the playoff scheduled in the same afternoon…It was not so easy against the Belgians of Antwerp, even if Cimberio always stayed ahead with an excellent beginning (8-4), but with the opponents ready to reply (11-10). The decisive break occurred during the second quarter (28-16 at 16’ and 34-22 during the long interval) and the match seemed to be over with the score of 39-23 at 22’.   Anyway, the Belgians responded with vim and reached a partial score of 8-0, which allowed them to get back into the game and reduce the gap.  Even with the score 54-47 at 35’ Cimberio did not fear for the worst.  Actually, the determination and coolness of Damiano, together with the precision of Roncari, Blomquist and Lindblom enabled the team to reach an historical victory, thanks also to the strength of Kim under the basket (13 rebounds) and Geninazzi (13).
At the end, the tears of the whole Cimberio team closed this new beautiful success, achieved in the presence of Also Ossola, much-acclaimed testimonial.
Another goal to be added to the many already reached by Handicap Sport in these last two years, from the promotion in A series to the organisation of All Star Game in 2014, and then with the qualification to the semi-final of championship and the final four of the Italian Cup (11th and 12th April in Rome) in 2015.
