It should be victory for Cimberio Handicap Sport and against PDM Treviso, last in ranking still at zero points (despite of at least a couple of excellent characters, already seen also last season in A2 league), they won. Actually, players from Varese did not emerge so much if not in some flashes during the match but evidently the comeback on the field after the Christmas pause and the concern of facing the last in ranking did not favour a performance above the lines. In addition, coach Daniele Riva choose to give more space than usual to whom is normally on the bench, presenting quintets that had a hard time to find a certain cohesiveness.
Anyway Cimberio, after a beginning certainly in slow motion (2-6 at 5’), easily controlled the match, gaining the maximum advantage of 19 lengths at the last pause (47-28). On all Kim (6/13 and 9 rebounds), remarkable also the answer of Silva (2/5 and 10 rebounds in less than 20 minutes).
To point out the presence on the stand of Mr. Roberto Cimberio with the whole family (an action that testifies the personal affinity of the sponsor, particularly esteemed from the association) and of many pupils and students of junior high and elementary school of Caronno Varesino and Castronno, accompanied by school head Mr. Claudio Lesica, by teachers and by many parents, thing that allowed Malnate indoor sports arena to offer a fine view.
During the interval Angelo Maino, sales manager of Linde (company of Brunello that produces forklift trucks), consigned to the society of Varese a check to buy a wheelchair to play, as happened during last season.
Next Saturday in Gradisca d’Isonzo team Cimberio will play an important match of the championship: a victory could assure it the second place in ranking, after Cantù, and it should mean some good advantage in the quarterfinals of the playoff and the access to the final four of the Italian’s Cup; it should be better to win with 7 points of margin, to recoup the loss of the firs leg and tuck away.
THE RESULTS (second day of return match): Cimberio Handicap Sport Varese-PDM Treviso 65-51, Millennium Padova-UnipolSai Briantea 84 Cantù 49-84, Montello Bergamo-Nordest Castelvecchio Gradisca 54-66.
THE RANKING: UnipolSai Briantea 84 Cantù punti 14; Nordest Castelvecchio Gradisca 10; Cimberio Handicap Sport Varese 8; Montello Bergamo 6; Millennium Padova 4; PDM Treviso 0.
THE NEXT TURN (Saturday 17th January at 6pm): Nordest Castelvecchio Gradisca d'Isonzo-Cimberio Handicap Sport Varese, PDM Treviso-UnipolSai Briantea 84 Cantù; Montello Bergamo-Millennium Padova.
