Cimberio S.p.A. first in the world with EPD environmental declaration of valves
Italian Cimberio, worldwide leader in the production of brass components and valves for plumbing systems, heating and air conditioning and gas and water distribution networks, with significant market share in Norway and Sweden, has become the first company on a global scale to be awarded a “generic EPD” (Environmental Product Declaration in accordance with ISO 14025) in valve production.
An EPD, type III, is a concise third-party verified and registered document with information on the environmental performance of products throughout the life cycle.
Both the underlying LCA (Life-Cycle Assessment) and EPD are based on international standards.
Several Norwegian companies in the building and construction sector have gained EPD approval, but in most cases for single products. Cimberio gained a generic EPD, which means that the company's products meet international requirements in addition to several special Norwegian requirements that are even stricter than the international ones.
The approval process started in early 2019, and it took over a year to gain the EDP label.
Cimberio can now document its green footing, from raw brass to production and until a finished product is delivered to the customer, including transport.
