We almost won the game

Don Bosco Genova - Cimberio Handicap Sport Varese 65-63 (17-12, 27-28, 46-39)

Don Bosco: Serio 19, Sala, C. Calcedo Montano 2, Carbone, W. Calcedo Montano 14, Carossino 16, Arena, Giaretti 14. Coach Carbone.

Cimberio: R. Marinello 16, Geninazzi 13, Mazzolini 8, Riva 2, Roncari 16, Fiorentini, Samb, Castorino, Silva 8, Paonessa, Semmler. Coach C. Marinello.

Referees: Borsani and Novara.

The comeback on the field, after a long stop for Christmas festivities, gives to Cimberio a defeat that leaves a bit of bitterness but also the awareness of being able to achieve the minimum seasonal finish line tied to the fifth place that in prospect gives the possibility to play in A1 in the next season.

It was a strained and uncertain match until the end in the home games (it ended 54-48 for the Genoeses) ; it happened the same thing also in the challenge that inaugurated the away games.

Cimberio handled in an excellent way in the first quarter and closed the gap going also to lead in the second quarter.
In the third period there were the most important difficulties for the team managed by Carlo Marinello that was however able to regain the maximum gap of seven points to tie at two minutes from the end and gamble the success to the sprint. The exit of Riccardo Marinello for reached number of fouls, indeed at two minutes from the end, made everything more complicated and a conclusion of three points of Walter Calcedo Montano definitely consigned the victory to Don Bosco.

Marinello and Silva, at the best performance of the year (during the week the last one was forced to skip a couple of workouts because of an annoying crick in the neck), were the best in Cimberio but the entire group moved well, finding again the team spirit that in Treviso, in the last match competed, we truly didn’t see and obtaining also excellent percentages of fulfillment at the end.

The victory of Lazio, the first of the Romans in championship, against Parma strengthened the fifth place of the team coming from Varese that could take out a mortgage on the fifth place beating Torino, next Saturday, in the match scheduled at 9pm in Malnate.

THE RESULTS (1st day of away game) : Don Bosco Genova-Cimberio Handicap Sport Varese 65-63, Lottomatica Lazio Roma-GiocoParma, Handicap Sport Torino-Montello Bergamo. PDM Treviso rested.

THE RANKING : Montello Bergamo punti 14; PDM Treviso 10; H.S. Torino and Don Bosco Genova 8; Cimberio Varese 4; GiocoParma and Lottomatica Lazio Roma 2.

NOTHING TO DO

Domestic defeat for Cimberio that bumped against the wall of Roma. The unstable physical conditions of Banks and Hassell are not sufficient to excuse the false step of the team of Mr. Frates.
