The happy Cimberio's

from "VareseSport"

“I’ve never been so calm as I was on this occasion. I was sure that we would have a great game and the guys didn’t let me down”.
The team that came back from the derby with Milan is a Renzo Cimberio full of serenity. A game that, for what was seen on Christmas Eve on the white and red’s court, confirmed the qualities of a group that, not by chance, has been leading the championship since day 1.
“I was told that a majority of the players were not available because of an intestinal virus. Sakota wasn’t even able to get out of bed. Polonara was in bed until the early afternoon. But after the opening tip-off, I felt everything would be fine”.
An amazing game in an environment of another time.
“Every once in a while I would look up to check whether we were playing in Milan or at Masnago! Our fans outdid themselves. They sang from start to finish. Both the team and the fans moved me”.
Though there was a man on the bench, or rather standing in front of the bench, who was gesturing and cursing with his players and the referees from start to finish...
“Vitucci, our great coach. He relieves the tension of the game. However, he is the first to be pleased and happy. The hug with his entire staff at the final buzzer is proof of the cohesion that this wonderful group has, which is doing fantastic things”.
Who and what do you like the most of this group?
“Really, the only answer I can give is: Everything and everyone! The desire the play, to be together, heart, friendship. They never give in. They battle and put on a show while having fun. The most that any manager or fan could ask for”.
The first to enjoy a Knight in seventh heaven is his wife Maria Grazia.
“I confirm his calm and serene vigil - says lady Cimberio - Even during the game he was never worried. Better this way, because when he loses you have to keep you distance for the entire week”.
So this year you have been really close...
“Very close, which we are both happy about. Plus, we have fun warding off bad luck. Before the derby we made a bet with the journalist Francesco Caielli on the final outcome of the game. If we won, we would buy him a dinner. Happy to soon be sitting at the table together. This happened another time when entering the Biella sports arena.Francesco said to us “Tonight we will win!”. My husband’s response was “It will be difficult, but if it goes like you say then I will buy dinner for you and the person with you”.
Seeing I was there with Caielli, I confirm and remember the excellent dinner we had! To the question of “what do you like about this team”, your husband answered: “everything”.
“He’s right. I think it’s the first answer that comes to mind when you look at these guys. Sometimes he is faced with people who are full of themselves that fight like madmen nevertheless, Vitucci gives an order and they carry it out to perfection with a smile on their face. In Milan, they outdid themselves by staging the best wish for a Merry Christmas for all of us”.
