Article published on 29th July in "Il Sole 24 Ore"

«For us, it is likely the most important achievement in the field of research and it is intended to have a very significant impact on our business.” Mr. Roberto Cimberio, Chief Executive Officer of the company in San Maurizio d’Opaglio, which manufactures valves for water and heating systems, welcomed with these words the European funding obtained for the project Horizon 2020.  This project named SmartCim is concerned with a cooling system able to improve the energy efficiency and get resource savings with an investment of 2,3 million, whose 1,6 (70%) financed by EU.  “During the last years – explained the President of the company, Mr. Renzo Cimberio - we invested a lot in research and development, with a view to total quality”.  And his son Roberto, third generation of the family business which has a total turnover of 50 million with 180 employers (in addition to the main factory, there is another premise in Pogno, in the same Novara area), underlined: “we have been worked for seven months about this project”.
The financing contract is part of the “Energy – SIE 1 – 2014-15” and it shall be ended within May 2017. “The project – declared Mr. Roberto Cimberio – might innovate significantly the management of the cooling systems. Since August, we will have 22 months to complete the third phase, but we will do our best in order to end it up before this schedule”.

Cimberio is one of the six Italian companies, the only one in Piedmont, among the 42 companies admitted to the second phase of the procedure which was part of the “Strumento Pmi”, a specific action enforced within the “Horizon 2020” project. The other companies (for a total funding of 6,7 million) are Atp (in Angri, Salerno) for a new technology about the composite materials; the company Agricola Serenissima (in Conselve, Padova) for a new project about a greenhouse for microalgae; Aleph (in Lurate Caccivio, Como) for a new printing system over large format; ML Engraving (in Onore, Bergamo) for a laser machine for industrial engraving; Mobiltech (in Varedo, Monza) for a power supply for caravan.
Along the long procedure, Cimberio was supported by Associazione Industriali di Novara, whose President Mr. Fabio Ravanelli calls for “Cimberio could encourage others companies in Novara area to reach similar results.”  And the Ain Director, Mr. Aureliano Curini, underlined the team work: “The project was followed by two of our managers from the beginning (Ms. Olivetta Federici and Mr. Giovanni Rossitti) with the support of a delegation of “Confindustria” (the confederation of Italian companies) at European Community in Brussels.  During the first year, the “Horizon 2020” window received a lot of requests of support from many associated companies and this number is expected to increase for sure in future.”
