Another defeat for Cimberio, that is not clearly able to fill the scant gap that still separates it from the teams that are immediately previous it in the ranking.
More or less it occured the same of the previous week in Genoa, in a match concluded with the sprint (65-63 for the Ligurians) and the same thing happened Saturday night in Malnate, where Turin had a good play thanks to a best precision. Under the numerical profile, it would be sufficient to check the factor free throws (0-6 for Cimberio, 8-11 for the guests) and find already an explanation to the defeat. Actually to make the difference was above all Amasio who set the terms, proving to be the true factor of the match.
Cimberio handled well until the interval, after a happy start (7-2 at 4’) and after a first quarter after in which some problems were skilfully covered by the precision of Roncari (11 points until the interval) and by 4 precious scores of Silva in the end.
In the third period the team of Varese had many difficulties, especially in attack (only 6 scores achieved), suffering the physicality of Turin, able to outdistance and close the quarter with the maximum advantage of 12 lengths (27-39).
In the last quarter Riva and team-mates played all-out, trying to put into play a result apparently already marked and risked to achieve it (37-43 and ball in hands at 37’). But, again, the carelessness from the semicircle was crucial, while on the other front the scores achieved gave to Turin the self-confidence of the victory that maintains it at the third place in ranking.
Hotly important for Cimberio, which fights with the fifth place as primary purpose, will be the match of next Saturday in Rome, the first of two authentic playoffs (the other one will be with Parma) for the conquest of a place in the future A1 guaranteed indeed by this placement.
