Turning Point

PDM Treviso – Cimberio Handicap Sport Varese 66-42 (20-8, 37-19, 51-23)

PDM TREVISO: Casagrande 10, Santinon, Denirovic 22, Nadaletto 3, Cadenazzo, Stimac 16, Ianchi 6, Franchini, Dal Ben 7.

CIMBERIO HANDICAP SPORT VARESE: Marinello 15, Geninazzi 6, Mazzolini, Riva 2, Roncari 15, Fiorentini, Samb, Castorino 2, Paonessa, Semmler 2, Silva.

Referees : Salerno and Saule

The first half of the season of the A2 championship ends for Cimberio with the heaviest defeat of the whole championship. A day to forget for the team of Varese, that probably faced the commitment with the intimate certainty of not being able to succeed on the field of the second team of the championship.

In fact the team trained by Mr. Raniero Bassi faced, from the very beginning, an adversary determined to win, clearly wishful to release the first seasonal defeat suffered in the previous turn on the field of Bergamo. Thus, already in the first quarter the team Cimberio was loosing, unable to resist also with its best quality, the defense.

The rest of the match remained the same, with the team of Treviso always at the forefront thanks to Denirovic and Stimac and the team of Varese able to respond only with some laudable initiative of Marinello and Roncari.

Evidently, for Geninazzi & C. the satisfaction was only partial of having « won » the last quarter against the PDM by now gratified and happy of the success.

The first two points in the major league achieved by Castorino have to be underlined.

The first half of the season ends with an apparently not satisfactory evaluation of two victories and four defeats.
In reality Cimberio is hitting the target of the seasonal objective and that means the conquest of the fifth place that will give the right to partake to the next championship of « enlarged » A1.
But the objective, in the second half of the season that will start on next 11 January with the away game in Genoa, will be to win a couple of matches more, a goal definitely within range.
