Inauguration and emotion

After our journey in Burundi, where we inaugurated a school built up thanks to a fund–raising organized by Cimberio SpA and “Varese nel Cuore”, we took a day off in order to reorganise our ideas, pictures and feeling of our stay.

During our week in that little African village, we lived different emotions which are quite difficult to forget, with the highest point during the party organised for the inauguration of the school on Saturday 20th July last.

Going through our experience with all we saw and felt during those days, first of all we would like to thank all those were involved in our adventure, which had as final outcome the construction of the school in Bugenyuzi.  At the inauguration, you were with us.

We saw our school.  We touched it, we visited its classrooms and were overwhelmed by the enthusiasms of those children who will have the possibility to study and grow up building up their future.  The inauguration with drums and African dances, was attended by summit of Vispe (Italian ong which took care of the construction of the school and management of the project) and the local political and educational authorities.  But above all, there were a lot of children, which started the party with the Burundi hymn, by overwhelming us with their enthusiasm.

At the inauguration, Mr. Roberto Cimberio, Chief Executive Officer of Cimberio SpA, said: “during these months I imagined this school many times: now that I see it I can say that it is more beautiful than I could ever dream.  Its beauty is not in its walls, but in the shouts of children which will live inside.  There is no future without education: in Burundi as well as in any other country in the world.  Nobody shall forget this”.

The school is already operating and ready to start the next academic year.  It will host 3500 children and is equipped with water and bathrooms.  The whole project cost is Euro 35.000.- collected through a fund-raising organised by Cimberio SpA and “Varese nel cuore”, together with many other friends came across on our way.
